If Project 2025 was the Cuban Missile Crisis, would Republicans deny that it is even a threat?
The stock deflection tactic that’s being launched at Democrats and civil libertarians goes something like this: “What makes you think that Trump would implement Project 2025? He never said he would. He denies even knowing about it!”
Trump claimed not to know who was behind it or even anything about it. The fact is, a CNN review found at least 140 people who worked for him are involved.
Common sense dictates that when you start to see a pattern, take it seriously.
Imagine that the crisis was not Project 2025, but the Cuban Missile Crisis. Let’s fit MAGA fake denialism to the timeline of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Monday, October 15: A U-2 reconnaissance aircraft reveals several SS-4 nuclear missiles in Cuba. Investigative journalists discover a plan to eliminate most individual rights and liberties in the Constitution, raise taxes on the poor and working class, turn the Department of Justice into a personal weapon of a future dictator, suspend the Constitution, and implement an Iran-like religious dictatorship in the United States.
Tuesday, October 16: Crisis begins: President Kennedy convenes his Executive Committee to consider America’s options. Republican operatives and right wing media insist that there is no plan to do any such thing. Former President Trump denies any knowledge of the plan. Right wing media insist that President Trump, if re-elected, has no intention of implementing its agenda.
Wednesday, October 17: An SS-5 IRBM site, the first of three to be identified, is detected in Cuba. Investigative reporters discover that Paul Dans, a former top official in the Trump administration, is a mastermind behind Project 2025.
Thursday, October 18: Soviet Foreign Minister Andrie Gromyko denies the presence of any Soviet weaponry in Cuba. Presidential candidate Donald Trump again denies knowing anyone involved with Project 2025.
Friday, October 19: President Kennedy meets with the Joint Chiefs of Staff to discuss military options. California governor Gavin Newsom calls special session with Democratic governors to develop a plan to defend America’s Constitutional liberties against a possible full-scale attack.
Saturday, October 20: President Kennedy returns to Washington to discuss the discovery of additional Soviet missiles in Cuba. Investigative reporters discover that 140 allies and associates of former President Trump are involved in Project 2025.
Sunday, October 21: President Kennedy decides on a naval blockade of Cuba. Trump supporters still claim that it will never happen, and bury heads in sand.
Monday, October 22: President Kennedy addresses the American public and announces his plan to implement a naval blockade of Cuba. Trump supporters still claim that there is not one single Cuban missile, and even if there were, they aren’t aimed at the Constitution of the United States.
Tuesday, October 23: Reconnaissance photos reveal that Soviet missiles are ready for launch. Trump supporters continue to deny that there is even one Project 2025 architect in Trump’s circle, despite conclusive evidence of at least 140 known Project 2025 operatives in Trump’s orbit.
Friday, October 26: The CIA reports that the construction of the missile sites is continuing and accelerating. Investigative reporters discover the addition of even more Project 2025 architects to Trump’s cabinet. MAGA still denies any knowledge whatsoever.
Sunday, October 28: The crisis is over. In a speech aired on Radio Moscow, Khrushchev announces the dismantling of Soviet missiles in Cuba and does not insist on his demands concerning the removal of U.S. missiles from Turkey. The Constitution of the United States is now completely gone, and Project 2025, instead of being dismantled, is now fully implemented, directly contradicting MAGA’s denials of any knowledge or plans to implement it.
The bad news is this: The enemies of the United States are fully aware of how close our nation is to falling, yet mass denial among its own citizens continue unabated.
