That “Prove Your Citizenship to Vote” Thang: Typical MAGA Witlessness or a Theocratic Shot at Women’s Voting Rights?

In MAGA’s highest echelons of Talibanesque theocratic thought, there is a concept known as “The Doctrine of Federal Representation.”

Hold that thought, and don’t get mad at your MAGA associates, peers or friends for never even having heard of it. MAGA’s ivory towers arent about to go around publicizing that concept, until it’s already too late for us uterus owners.

One of MAGA’s most brazen ideas to date for the disenfranchisement of voters is to require people to prove their citizenship to register to vote. Usually, this would involve producing the original birth certificate.

But there’s a bit of a problem. When a woman marries, her surname usually changes. It no longer matches the original birth certificate. That inserts a shitload of extra hoops and hurdles to jump through and over, respectively, to prove her citizenship. Many will be unable to do so, and many others will simply give up, deterred by the grueling obstacle course of locating and assembling documentary evidence.

Is this an “oops” that MAGA-grade stupidity simply did not catch? Or is it far more diabolical?

In a now-scrubbed article at the now-defunct Vision Forum Ministries, the author argues that God does not allow women to vote. In particular, he argues that as the man is the head of the house and of the family, he alone should vote on behalf of the family. More discussion and debate on the assertion can be found here.

It’s worth noting, as an aside, that the former leader of Vision Forum, Doug Phillips, resigned because of – you guessed it – an inappropriate long-term affair with a woman other than his wife.

The idea of forbidding women, especially married women – because the husband is “the head” and votes for the family – from voting? What an absolutely perfect fit to what the SAVE Act would do the ability of married women to register to vote!

Maybe it’s a coincidence, but knowing the utterly evil utter genius at the helm of MAGA’s highest echelons of influence, a deliberate attempt to enact the Doctrine of Federal Representation through a back door cannot be ruled out.
