Another day, another social media share of the latest Trump outrage. This week it’s Trump’s planned incineration of huge stores of food intended for starving children.

I get it. It’s an outrage. But MAGA thinks it’s funny. MAGA thinks it’s funny to screw over helpless people and they laugh at our outrage. Laughing at innocent people being hurt and mocking our outrage over it is MAGA’s rocket fuel. MAGA feeds on the fear, suffering and outrage of others. It’s their fuel, their energy source.

It is impossible to shame them. They have zero conscience. It’s impossible to embarrass them or make them feel guilt. Trying to appeal to MAGA’s nonexistent soul is like pleading with a serial murderer. All that this mass-sharing of the latest outrage will do is make us burn up badly needed energy on wasted and unnecessary heat.

Hitting MAGA with their innumerable self-contradictions will have no effect, either. Bigotry is a blinder that short-circuits logic, making it impossible for them to see a self-contradiction three feet in front of them, and for those who can see the self-contradictions, they don’t give a fuck. Total destruction of “the other” is the only objective that they care about, and they aren’t going to worry about ethics in achieving the mission. They’ll just bat your counterpoints aside and keep right on charging. Logic and facts bounce right off of MAGA like bullets off a robotic tank, so don’t even bother.

The only thing that MAGA understands is pain, consequences, and defeat after defeat after defeat. Focus our precious energy instead on the goal of defeating fascism.

I’m not saying that each new outrage doesn’t matter. It does. But rather than letting it turn our focused energy into disorganized, unproductive heat, we should be filing each new outrage away in our ammo boxes for future use. Add them to our browser’s Outrage Folder and/or relying on the outrage lists created by others. The outrages will always be there, waiting to be calmly used on an as-needed basis to deliver to MAGA the aforementioned pain, consequences, and defeat as the opportunities arise.

Defeating fascism will require cool heads. If your scalp is getting a little too hot from the latest MAGA outrage, then save the link, close the tab, and regain the focus needed to outwit MAGA and defeat fascism.
