Let’s make one thing perfectly clear: any given president is only allowed to serve two terms. The 22nd Amendment makes that absolutely clear.
And then along came Steve Bannon, arrogantly announcing that Trump will have a third term.
Democrats mostly responded almost immediately by treating a third term as a real possibility. Dems quickly went from “could he really have a third term?” to “I think he really could have a third term.” More and more Dems have begun treating a third Trump candidacy as not only a serious possibility, but even a foregone conclusion. Harried, feverish posts on Bluesky panicked, as if “OMG, Trump is going to get a third term!”
STOP it, Dems. Just stop.
Stop conditioning the American electorate to be open to the possibility of a third Trump term when the 22nd Amendment expressly forbids it in any way, shape, or form. Because if we act like a third term is possible, then it really does become possible.
Or, to put it more bluntly, stop doing MAGA’s psy-ops for them.
A third term is not possible under the Constitution.
So act like it, Dems, and draw that clear, hard, line. Now.
Remember that stolen power is illegitimate power. And be prepared to act like it.
